One of the attractions of the Whaley Waltz fell race is a river crossing near to the finish line and the public gather and ‘score you’ on how the crossing is conquered. Tippy toe gets the boos and triple tuck with twist gets the cheers. The biggest cheer of the day went to our own water baby Janet Grint ( see above )Â who took the ‘Tom Daley’ approach and dived in head first ( it is reported that Janet had been secretly practicing at Salford Quays that very morning)
Howard Oldham led the ECH contingent with a very impressive 3rd place in 39.52 our leading lady was Janine Ridgard in 52.53.
