On Sunday 19th April thousands of runners took to the streets of Manchester to run the marathon distance of 26.2 miles. Nine East Cheshire athlete’s entered the race and with good conditions on the day it was time to see if the hard training in last few months had paid off.
Christopher Swire was first home for ECH running under 3 hours with a time of 2.54.52. Matt Holt and Ian Fraser were next through the line in times of 3.05.56 and 3.08.07 respectively.
Tony Hillier was next across the finish line running a fantastic 3.15.33, which was good enough for 3rd place in his category V65. Tony had trained really hard for this and beat his target of 3hr 20, so was over the moon with his run.
Mark Porritt had a good run finishing in a time of 3.27.54. Janet Grint closely followed with a new PB of 3.31.08, well done!
James Fairfield and Andrew Cole were next home with 3.39.26 and 3.44.04 respectively. Bernadette Mattison also completed the course in 5.02.47. Well done to all.
A special mention goes to the ECH helpers and marshals on the day who were placed at mile 22 doing a fantastic job and representing the club.
