The annual Millbrook Monster 10k and Junior 4k took place on Wednesday 27th July 2016 hosted by Hyde Village Striders. Good conditions on the night produced some good running and fast times.
East Cheshire’s Joe Steward won the event in an impressive time of 35.27 only 8 seconds away from the course record showing the hard work since over coming his injury has paid off. Youngster Keenan Owen finished a brilliant 2nd place with a time of 38.52, showing he can step up to the senior races at a young age!
Tom Smith finished 30th overall but 1st in the Vet 55 category with a time of 48.21, and Derek Hughes not far behind in 37th place in 49.13 finishing 2nd in the same category.
Angela Oldham was first back for East Cheshire from the ladies winning the Vet 60 category in a time of 50.49. Gary Coxon also had a good run in 105th place (4th Vet 60) in 55.43. Well done to all.
A special mention to Luke Carrington who finished 3rd in the Junior 4k race with a time of 17.22 out of 15 athlete’s, keep up the hard training!
