East Cheshire’s Joe Steward competed at the World Mountain Running Trial in Llanberis, Wales on 21st September. The top 2 in the race would gain automatic selection to represent Team GB at the World Mountain Running Championships in Villa La Angostura, Argentina on 15th November.
Andrew Douglas was the eventual winner by just under 3 minutes. The real battle was for 2nd place between Joe and Tom Adams, and Joe ran brilliantly to take 2nd by just 9 seconds to book his place on the plane to Argentina to compete against the best athletes in the World. An amazing achievement Joe, well done and good luck in November!
