Plenty of action this weekend with the main events being the Northern U13 & U15 indoor champs in Sheffield where Olivia Jones won a fantastic bronze medal in the 200m and at Heaton Park for the GM primary and secondary schools cross country champs. Too many performances to cover here at the GM’s but just a few highlights to mention. Emilia Platt took an excellent first place and the title of GM Senior Girls champion with Aliesha Smith taking 9th in the same race to be first reserve at the National champs (both pictured at the start). Joe Taylor and Cole Wright were among the Tameside team that finished 3rd in the Inter boys giving them a bronze medal each. Marshall Fleet is also on the reserve list for the nationals finishing 12th in the Junior Boys. Finally an excellent 2nd place and silver medal to Demi Baxter in the minor girls.
On the tarmac, James Harthshorne and Karen Fleming ran the Heaton Park winter warmer 10k with Karen finishing First Lady overall. Michelle Vaughan made her indoor debut in the 3k at Sheffield on the Saturday. Colin Edwards also competed in the 200m . Also on Saturday we had Megan Lewis, Jacob Taylor and Michael Obi compete in the BUCS champs in South Wales. Well done to all.
