The North of England X-Country Championships took place on Saturday 24th January at Pontefract race course. Many ECH athlete’s took to the muddy course putting themselves up against the best in the country.
Under 13 Girls:
Megan Lewis 29th, Abby O’Neil 38th, Alyssa Davey 63rd, Freya Handley 75th, Holly Jackson 105th and Ty Brockley-Langford 113th all had fantastic runs giving them an impressive 6th place finish overall in the team event.
Under 15 Girls:
Well done Molly Healey the only ECH representative in a solid 80th position
Under 15 Boys:
Great run from much improved Louie Haynes just making the top 50 in 49th position.
Under 17 Women:
Three ECH runners all having great runs finishing close together – Alannah Newell 67th, Lily McGuinness 68th and Alarna Brockley-Langford in 73rd.
Under 17 Men:
Luke Piper is having a great X-Country season again running well in 52nd place.
Junior Men:
Tom McGuinness again showing what a great runner he is in the mud finishing in a solid 32nd position.
Senior Women:
Bethany Hirst who has gone from sprinting to X-Country had another fantastic run finishing in 113th place.
Senior Men:
6 ECH athletes took to the 12km course, some great runs including: Joe Hudak in 171st, Barry Hirst 246th, Gary Matthews 314th, Scott Matthews 390th, Derek Hughes 525th and John Bowker 573rd.
