The Tour of Tameside returned this weekend after being out of the race calendar for 15 years! The event consisted of 3 races in 3 days including a 6 mile fell race over Copley, a half-marathon on the Longendale Trail and finally a 7 mile road race finishing at Hyde town hall (26 miles in total).
East Cheshire Harriers had several runners completing the full tour, which I’m sure they will all agree was a tough, grueling event but thoroughly enjoyable and well organised.
East Cheshire had 2 prize winners, with Tony Hillier first Male Vet 65 and Angela Oldham first Female Vet 60 overall. Fantastic effort from both.
Gavin Browne was first to complete the tour for East Cheshire finishing 17th place overall. Other’s completing the full tour included Derek Hughes, Alan Kennedy, Pamela Read, Jennifer Read, Ian Howarth and Gary Coxon. Well done to all and many thanks to all the helpers/marshals etc who put on a fantastic event.
